Despite what some other reviewers say, it DOES work for BOTH new installs and upgrades. The download is actually from Microsoft, although Amazon provides the key. You have the choice to download an iso for DVD or for USB. This purchase was probably one of the best time savers I've made in a while. Everything that was broken in Windows is now fixed! Now that I know how to use the new Desktop User Interface I can deal with the whole "UI Change" thing. Anyway, I'm glad I purchased this software. I bought this to install on a new Intel NUC system I was building, choosing Windows 10 Pro because I wanted to use Bitlocker disk encryption. The DVD worked fine for the install, but I was momentarily confused as to where to find the product key. Inside the packet is an "authenticity" sticker which has a small scratch-off square that hides most of the product key. The type on the sticker is so small that I did not recognize at first that's where the key was and had to use a magnifying glass to read it. Note that you don't actually need the DVD - you can download the Windows Media Creation Tool to create installation media on a USB stick if you want.

After swearing to never upgrade from Windows 7, I'm glad I did. Originally, I read all the negative reviews about Windows 10 when it was first released. However, it seems they've resolved everything because I haven't run into any issues with it yet. This OS, alongside my new ssd, make using my PC flawless fast again. Worth the upgrade.

Have been using all of the Windows OSs in my lifetime. I didn't care too much for Vista and I can't stand 8. XP has never given any issue but no longer is being supported. 7 however, is awesome. I can see why so many are downgrading from 8 back to 7. But with Ultimate it has some nice extras that work well with my mass of programs. If nothing else, maybe Microsoft can learn from this. Just because it works well on tablets and touch technologies, it does not mean it is friendly to the PC and laptop market.

I have a 2 year old laptop that was running Windows 7, and wanted to upgrade to Windows 10. Within 2 days Amazon sent me an official Microsoft sealed disk with the product key hidden under a scratch off on the cover. However, I didn't need the key. I simple turned on my PC, and after it came up under Window 7, I inserted the Windows 10 disk. It opened up, and other than replying to a few prompts, it ran on it's own completely until it finished. It then restarted my computer and up came the fully implemented version of Windows 10. No problems, simple upgrade.

I purchased this again for the 2nd time and added it to my existing subscription. I don't like autopay and Microsoft won't offer any other option, so it's nice to buy the key card download and get it right away. I didn't have to download the software again. It just added to my existing subscription. I was worried it might just reset it for a year, but it actually added a year to my existing expiration date at a better price than my Microsoft account was offering. I'm happy with the ease and having the most updated Office products available. It's worth the price and the 5 user deal is great!
